Slow-Cooked Corned Silverside

Ingredients

  • 6 x
    baby leeks or 1 leek, chopped
  • 6 x
    baby carrots or 2 carrots, chopped
  • 6 x
    baby turnips or 1 cup turnip, cut into matchsticks
  • 1 kg
    corned silverside, rinsed
  • hot water
  • 1 tbsp
    malt vinegar
  • 2 tbsp
    golden syrup
  • 2 x
    bay leaves
  • 6
    peppercorns
  • MUSTARD SAUCE:
  • ΒΌ tsp
    mustard powder
  • 1 pkt
    MAGGI Creamy White Sauce Mix
  • 1 cup
    trim milk

How to Cook

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 600 minutes
  1. Set the slow cooker to low.

  2. Add prepared vegetables to the slow cooker and place corned silverside on top.

  3. Pour in enough hot water to cover meat. Add vinegar, golden syrup, bay leaves and peppercorns.

  4. Cook on low for 8-10 hours.

MUSTARD SAUCE:

  1. Add mustard powder to White Sauce Mix and make up as directed on the packet.

  2. Slice corned silverside and serve with the sauce and potatoes with fresh vegetables.
