Winter Braised Steak


  • 2 tsp
    canola oil or cooking spray
  • 500 g
    beef braising steak, cut into 3cm cubes
  • 1 (150g)
    onion, cut into wedges
  • 1 pkt
  • 1 cup (240mL)
  • 1 tsp
  • 1 tbsp
  • 2 tsp
    Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp
    chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp
    lemon zest

How to Cook

Prep Time: 10 minutes | Cooking Time: 2 minutes
  1. Preheat oven to 170┬░C.

  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan. Add the steak and brown over a high heat. Place in a casserole dish. Add the onion to the pan and cook for 2 minutes.

  3. Combine the MAGGI Hearty Oxtail Soup Mix and water. Add to the pan with the thyme, capers and mustard. Bring to the boil, stirring, then pour over the steak. Cover the dish.

  4. Cook in preheated oven for 2 hours or until the steak is very tender. Stir in the parsley and garnish with zest before serving with mashed potato and green beans if desired.
