French Style Lamb Shanks

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp
    canola oil or cooking spray
  • 4
    lamb shanks, trimmed of fat
  • 12
    baby onions (pickling)
  • 250 g
    button mushrooms
  • 1 pkt
    MAGGI Beef Bourguignon Recipe Mix
  • ½ cup
    red wine or water
  • ¼ cup
    water
  • 1 tsp
    dried ground thyme
  • 2 tbsp
    tomato paste
  • 1 tsp
    MAGGI Beef Stock Powder
  • 1 can
    chopped tomatoes with juice, 400g

How to Cook

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 127 minutes
  1. Preheat oven to 180°C. Heat a large non-stick frying pan with oil. Add lamb shanks and cook turning for 3-4 minutes. Add onions and cook for a further 2-3 minutes or until browned.

  2. Place lamb shanks, onions and mushrooms in a large casserole dish.

  3. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over lamb shanks. Cover casserole.

  4. Cook in preheated oven for 1½ – 2 hours, stirring occasionally.

  5. Serve with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans.
