Noodle & Prawn Stir Fry

First up is the sesame oil, this gives depth and body to the recipe and is the first step to a full flavoured recipe.

Handy hint: Sesame oil degrades quite easily so don’t forget to always buy the smallest bottle available and keep it sealed in the fridge after opening.
Next up we have the Chinese trilogy of onions, ginger and garlic, these are the building blocks of so many Asian recipes because they provide sweetness from onions, fragrance from ginger and savoury aromas from garlic. So by using these ingredients you know you are off to a tasty start.

Not everyone likes to peel raw prawns, if this is you, ask your local seafood supplier to do this for you or buy ready peeled from your local supermarket.

Next on the ingredient list are MAGGI Hot & Spicy Fusian Noodles these provide the full on chilli hit which is perfectly complemented by the tangy lime. Oyster Sauce  is sticky sweet, salty and fishy so a little can go a long way.

Now, remember stir fries cook very quickly so it’s important that you have all the ingredients on hand before you start cooking. A simple rule with stir frying is that you should always start with the largest or most dense items first as these will take the longest to cook. So with this stir fry, cook the prawn’s first, taking care not to overcook them as they quickly become rubbery. You can try a bit of multitasking here and cook the noodles – as per pack instructions – at the same time. Drain and add to the wok or frying pan with the prawns. To stop the noodles sticking keep stirring or moving the pan while adding oyster sauce, lime juice, sprouts and coriander.

Noodle & Prawn Stir Fry


  • 1 tsbp
    seasme oil
  • 1
    brown onion, thinly sliced
  • 2cm piece
    ginger, finely grated
  • 1 clove
    garlic, crushed
  • 300g
    peeled prawns, tails intact, deveined
  • 2 pkts
  • 1 tbsp
    fresh lime juice
  • 100g
    snow pea sprouts, halved
  • 1/2 cup
    chopped fresh coriander
  • 2 tbsp
    Oyster sauce

How to Cook

Prep Time: 15 minutes | Cooking Time: 10 minutes
  1. Heat a wok over high heat. Add oil and swirl to coat. Add onion, ginger, garlic and prawns; stir-fry for 2 minutes or until prawns start to brown.

  2. Meanwhile cook MAGGI Hot & Spicy Fusian Noodles according to pkt instructions.

  3. Add noodles, oyster sauce, lime juice, snow pea sprouts and chopped coriander to prawn mixture. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes or until heated through.

  4. Divide the stir-fry among serving bowls and top with coriander sprigs to serve
