Promotional Period The Promotion starts at 11am 8 May 2017 and closes at 7pm on the 21st July 2017.
Entry Restrictions Entries must be submitted by the team co-ordinator who is:
(i) A resident of New Zealand; and
(ii) Either a parent or guardian of an Eligible Team Member; or
(iii) Who is employed by a New Zealand school as a teacher where the Eligible Team Members are enrolled as students.Note: The Team Co-ordinator must be willing to act as the contact person for the promoter. They will be required to co-ordinate all aspects of each Eligible Team Member’s participation in the competition.An “Eligible Team Member” is a New Zealand school student aged no younger than 11 years and no older than 16 years on 14 September 2017. An Eligible Team Member must have the permission of their parent or guardian to participate in the MAGGI Kitchen Showdown broadcast content should they be chosen as a semi-finalist or a finalist. (“Eligible Team Member”).
Entry Method To enter, a Team Co-ordinator must during the Promotional Period:

  1. Form a team of between 2&4 students who are all Eligible Team Members;
  2. Formulate a nutritious and balanced main course with the team that meets the following requirements:(i) It must be a meal for a family of four people (2 adults and 2 children);(ii) It must be capable of being prepared in 30 minutes;(iii) It must include a MAGGI Recipe Base product from the list of participating products shown at /kitchen-showdown and(iv) The cost of all ingredients for the meal cannot exceed $20.(“Eligible Recipe”);
  3. Go to the Website and provide the teams name, details of the Eligible Team Members, details of the school that they attend, a picture of the main meal and details of the Eligible Recipe;
  4. The Promoter will judge in accordance with Judging Details to determine up to 5 semi-finalists (“Semi-Finalist”). To determine the 6th Semi –Finalist, the Promoter will post the remaining entries on the Website and they will be subject to a public vote from 9am 24 July 20177pm 30 July 2017 (“Voting Period”). The Entry that receives the most public votes after the Voting Period will also be determined to be a Semi-Finalist;
  5. The Promoter will judge the Semi-Finalists in accordance with Judging Details to determine up to 3 finalists (“Finalists”). All Finalists will be invited to attend The National Final at a time and date to be advised by the Promoter (“The Event”). The Event will be pre-recorded and broadcast on The Adam and Eve Show at a time and date to be advised by the Promoter.    
  6. Prior to the Event, the Finalists will be provided with a list of ingredients that they will be required to prepare, cook and present at the Event. The meal must be nutritious and balanced and it must be substantially different from their first recipe. It must be capable of being prepared in no more than 30 minutes at the Event (please see below special conditions for details);
  7. Their performance at the Event will be judged in accordance with Judging Details to determine Minor Prize Winners and Major Prize Winners.
Maximum entries permitted An Eligible Team Member can only belong to 1 team and therefore can only be entered once into the Promotion. However multiple entries are permitted from each school. Entrants can only win once.
Judging Details Semi-Finalist: To determine a Semi-Finalist, the Promoter will judge entries on the creativity, originality, suitability and nutritious nature of the recipe submitted by the Team Co-ordinator.  To determine Semi Finalists judging will take place between 29 May 2017 and 24 July 2017.

To determine the sixth Semi Finalist, the Promoter will judge to determine which entry has received the most public votes at the end of the Voting Period.

Finalist To determine a Finalist, the Promoter will judge the entries of Semi-Finalists on the creativity, originality, suitability and nutritious nature of the recipe submitted by the Team Co-ordinator. To determine Finalists judging will take place between 14 August 2017 and 18 August 2017.

Major Prize Winner and Minor Prize Winner

To determine a Major Prize Winner and A Minor Prize Winner, the Promoter will judge the Finalists on their performance during the Event, the level of team work, the creativity that they demonstrate, the nutritious nature of the meal that they prepare and whether or not they have prepared the meal in the time allowed. The Event will take place at a time and date to be advised by the Promoter.

All decisions are at the discretion of the Promoter and no correspondence will be entered into.

Minor Prize 2 The Minor Prize will consist of a monetary prize to the value of $500 which will be payable to the school each runner-up Team represents. In the event members of a runner-up Team represent different schools then the prize will be equally divided between the relevant schools. $500
Semi Finalist Prize Up to 18 All team members of the Semi-Finalist teams will be awarded a $50 Rebel Sport Gift Voucher. $50 per team member

Note: Travel expenses will also be provided to Finalists to accommodate them for any out of pocket expenses in making their way to and from the Event. See Special Conditions below.

Prize Winner Notification Major and Minor Prize Winners will be notified in person on the date of the filming of the National Final in August 2017.
Prize Winner Publication Details The first name and suburb of the Major and Minor Prize Winners will be published on www.maggi.co.nz by 3 October 2017 at 10am.
Special Conditions Should a team be chosen as a Semi-Finalist they will be required to participate in marketing and publicity relating to the Promotion. Should a team be chosen as a Finalist they will be required to participate in the Event which will be recorded and broadcast on The Adam and Eve Show.   The Team Co-ordinator acknowledges that they must have the parent or legal guardian of the eligible Team Member sign a release prior to entry into the promotion, this release must be scanned and uploaded at the time of entry. Originals of this release will be required to be provided to the Promoter upon qualification as a Semi-Finalist.     This release will be collected by the Promoter and held by both the Promoter and Whitebait production.

The 3 Finalist Teams selected to compete in the Event will receive the following:

At least 2 weeks prior to the Event, the Finalists will be provided a list of ingredients that will need to be used in the creation of their final dish- the dish created must be substantially different from their first entry. Teams will be able to add other ingredients to these mandatory ingredients but the meal must cost under $20. A $100 supermarket voucher for a supermarket nominated by the Team Co-ordinator will also be provided. The voucher is intended to be used to purchase ingredients for the Semi Finalist team to practice for the Event.

At least 1 week prior to the Event, the Finalists must advise the Promoter of their exact shopping list of ingredients so that the Promoter can verify the total cost to create the meal is under $20 and ensure the ingredients are available at the Event for use by them. Any specialised or difficult to find ingredients must be brought to the Competition by the Team Co-ordinator.

On the day of the Event, the Promoter will provide support for transport and meals including same-day return travel between Christchurch and the Team’s home for any team based outside of Christchurch. (In the event that same-day return travel is not possible then accommodation will also be provided). The mode of transport will be determined by the Promoter as appropriate according to the location of each Team and methods of transport available. The support will be sufficient for a minimum of four and maximum of six people, (comprising the Team Members, the Team Co-ordinator plus an additional adult responsible for chaperoning the Team). Additional costs such as travel insurance and additional people travelling with or staying with the Team will be the responsibility of Team Co-ordinator.

 

Conditions of Entry

    1. These Conditions of Entry are to be read in conjunction with the Schedule to Conditions of Entry. To the extent that there is any inconsistency between the Conditions of Entry and the Schedule to Conditions of Entry, the Schedule to Condition of Entry prevails.
    2. Information on how to enter & prizes form part of these terms & conditions. Any entry not complying with these Conditions of Entry and Schedule to Conditions of Entry is invalid.
    3. Standard entry restriction: Employees of the Promoter, the Promoter’s associated companies, the Promoter’s agencies associated with the Promotion and their immediate families are ineligible to enter.
    4. Promotional Period: The Promotion will take place during the Promotional Period. Any entry that occurs outside this period is invalid.
    5. Entry by SMS: Should the Promotion require an SMS entry, the cost of sending a text entry is the responsibility of the entrant and will not exceed their usual cost to send a text message.
    6. Receipt of entries for electronic entries: Entries are deemed to be received at the time of receipt into the Promoter’s database. The Promoter is not responsible for incorrect, inaccurate, incomplete, late, lost or misdirected information caused by an entrant or occurring during transmission.
    7. Games of Chance: If more than one prize is offered for that draw, the prize with the highest value will be awarded first. If other prizes are available to be won in the Promotion, they will be awarded in descending value.
    8. Games of skill: All decisions are at the discretion of the Promoter and no correspondence will be entered into in this regard.
    9. Verification Requirements: The Promoter may require the entrant to provide proof of identity, age, and residency. Where the Promotion requires the purchase of a product(s), the Promoter reserves the absolute discretion to require any prize winner to produce the original purchase receipt/s for every entry they or their household made during the Promotion period in order to claim a prize. If an entry cannot be verified to the Promoter’s satisfaction, the entry will be invalid.
    10. Monetary Prizes: If money is offered as a prize, the prize may be awarded in a cheque form or by Eftpos transfer to a nominated bank account. If the prize is to be delivered by Eftpos, the winner will be required to advise the Promoter of their nominated bank account details for their prize money to be deposited. Eftpos transfers may take up to 30 days to process.
    11. Tickets to an Event or an Experience: If tickets to an event or an experience are offered as a prize, the prize will be subject to the organiser’s terms. The Promoter is not liable for any cancellation or re-scheduling that may prevent prize fulfilment. The tickets to the event cannot be converted to cash nor replaced if lost, stolen or defaced. Tickets can only be used on the date(s) specified on the ticket.
    12. Trip Prize: If travel is offered as a prize, flights and accommodation are subject to availability at time of booking. Additional spending money, meals, taxes, valid passports, visas, transport to & from departure point additional transfers, insurance & all other ancillary costs not specifically stated in the Schedule to Conditions of Entry are the responsibility of the winner. It is a condition of accepting the prize that all components of the prize be taken during the trip and all persons taking the trip depart from & return to the winner’s nearest capital city at the same time unless otherwise agreed by the Promoter & that all persons taking the trip sign a waiver of liability & an indemnity in the form determined by the Promoter in its absolute discretion.
    13. Vouchers: If a voucher is offered as a prize, the prize will be subject to the issuer’s terms of use and are valid until the voucher expiry date stated on the voucher itself. The card cannot be converted to cash nor replaced if lost, stolen or defaced.
    14. Standard Prize Restriction: All prizes unless stated to the contrary are not transferable & cannot be converted to cash.
    15. Prize Value: Prize value is correct at time of printing but no responsibility is accepted for any variation in the value of any prize.
    16. Prize Delivery: Prizes will only be delivered in New Zealand and each winner should allow 28 days from prize winner determination for delivery of their prize, or (if required) the date they advise the Promoter of their nominated New Zealand bank account details for their prize money to be deposited.
    17. If a prize winner or participant is under the age of 18 years of age: The prize will be awarded to the winner’s parent/guardian on their behalf. The Promoter may require a winner under the age of 18 years to be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian throughout prize fulfilment.
    18. If the prize becomes unavailable: The Promoter may substitute a different prize item of equal or greater value in the event that any prize item is unavailable despite the Promoter’s reasonable endeavours to procure within New Zealand. This substitution may be subject to any approval process required by any relevant gaming or lotteries authority if the Promotion is a game of chance.
    19. Consumer Guarantee: Each prize winner should look to the manufacturer of products and provider of services awarded as prizes for all warranties. However, these terms and conditions do not exclude or limit the application of any statutory provision (including a provision of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 [NZ] where to do so would contravene that statute or cause any part of these terms and conditions to be void.
    20. Tampering: The Promoter reserves the right to disqualify any individual entrant or group of entrants for tampering with the entry process. Tampering includes but is not limited to the utilisation of techniques designed to avoid payment of call costs or the making of multiple entries that are not associated with a separate eligible purchase, or submitting an entry which is not otherwise in accordance with these Conditions of Entry and Schedule to Conditions of Entry. Should the Promoter find evidence of tampering by an individual, in addition to declaring any or all entries made by that individual invalid, the Promoter may also preclude that entrant from participation future promotions of the Promoter.
    21. Risks: The entrant acknowledges that participation in the Promotion and prize fulfilment may involve risk. The Promoter may require a winner (and their companions) to sign an indemnity and release prior to participation in the prize fulfilment or participation in the Promotion. The Promoter reserves the right to refuse to allow a winner (and their nominated companions) to take part in any or all aspects of a prize if the Promoter determines, in its absolute discretion, that a winner (and/or their nominated companions) are not in the mental or physical condition necessary to be able to safely participate.
    22. Technical Malfunction: If for any reason this Promotion is not capable of running as planned, whether caused by computer virus, mobile phone failure, line drop out, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any other cause beyond the control of the Promoter which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness or integrity of the Promotion, the Promoter reserves the right in its sole discretion, (subject to any written direction given by a relevant Regulatory Authority), to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Promotion. The Promoter is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone, telephone or computer network, or lines, servers, or telephone or internet providers, traffic congestion on any phone or computer network, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to participants or any other person’s handset or computer related to or resulting from participation or sending or receiving of any communication or of any materials in this Promotion.
    23. Publicity: Winners may be required to participate in a follow-up interviews and publicity. By entering the Promotion and claiming a prize, the winner agrees that the Promoter may use their name, image and photograph/s for publicity and Promotion purposes, without compensation, and agrees that the Promoter will own copyright in any such images and photograph/s and in all material incorporating the photograph/s.
    24. Entry Content: The Promoter may use their entry content, name, likeness, images, photograph/s, film and sound recordings and any other material created during their participation in the Promotion for publicity and promotion purposes for an unlimited time throughout the world without compensation in any media, social media, advertising and/or promoting any goods or services of the Promoter.
    25. Copyright: It is a condition of participating in the Promotion that the entrant warrants that their entry is original and does not infringe the intellectual property of any third parties. The entrant assigns all rights, title and interest in their entry to the Promoter without compensation. The entrant further agrees not to object to the Promoters use of the entry material on the basis of any moral right. The Promoter may, if required request that an entrant complete any documentation necessary to give effect to this assignment of right, title and interest.
    26. Liability: The Promoter is not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered, including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss, or for personal injury suffered or sustained during the course of accepting or using the prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
    27. Disruptive, abusive, unsuitable entries: The Promoter may determine all entries invalid and/or preclude participation by an entrant if an entrant disrupts, annoys, abuses, acts contrary to law or engages in fraudulent misleading and deceptive conduct.
    28. Tax: Winners should obtain their own independent financial advice in relation to any tax liability that may arise as a result of their participation in the Promotion.
    29. Promoters Decisions: All decisions of the Promoter are at their complete discretions and are final. No correspondence will be entered into.
    30. Social Media: The Promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by or associated with Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. Entrants completely release Facebook, Instagram or Twitter from any and all liability relating to the Promotion.
